Flow Switch – Paddle – F30 Pump Controller

The F30 Pump Controller is an intelligent flow switch that accepts an auxiliary input from a remote pressure or level switch. When used in pressure systems, the F30 vastly improves the system’s overall performance.

Pressure systems normally employ pumps that exhibit relatively steep head curves, not because this engenders any advantage to the user, but because a reasonable differential pressure is required to operate the pressure switch that traditionally controls such systems. The user sees the effect in the system as fluctuations in pressure, at the tap. In addition, in the event of loss of prime, a system operating on a standard pressure switch will run dry and invariably sustain damage.

The F30 Pump Controller offers a far better approach. The system starts as soon as there is a modest demand; that is, it starts on flow, and continues to run whilever there is demand. When the demand ceases, the controller continues to run the pump, for a settable length of time, sufficient to recharge the air tank. Such a system allows the selection of a pump that has essentially a flat curve, and delivers a steady constant flow.

An air tank with a very small draw off can be used in such a system. There only has to be sufficient stored pressure to re-actuate the F30 Controller the next time there is a demand. With the F30 system, the external pressure switch is set to cut in at a pressure only marginally higher than the system’s static head. If the demand is too low to actuate the controller’s inbuilt flow switch, or if for any reason the system pressure falls, eventually the pressure switch will close, and signal the F30 to start the pump. The controller then runs the pump for a preset time, recharges the air tank and then switches off.
